Fish and Chips

England's famous fish and chips were not left out of our trip. Paul had sting ray, I had rock fish, which I think was a kind of catfish; and Heidi had cod. Cod was the best, it had a buttery, rich taste to it. Mine was wonderful and Paul's was tasty and different. Both mine and Paul's came with part of the large fin down the middle.

By the way, people eat French fries with a fork here. I did the same of course.

We asked the waitress for a sample of each sauce. They love "brown sauce" which shows up as regular packet in many restaurants. Brown sauce is simply A1.

Great experience.

  1. The fish is huge! Very generous portions. Dad and I would probably have to share a plate. Heather, thanks for the wonderful pics and all of your stories are interesting. Aunt Sandy has been amazed at what she is reading. I hope she comments some. Much love, Mom

  2. Heather that looks delicious! I LOVE fish and chips. These pictures make me so hungry. Your posts of food are my favorite. Why does Euro food always seem better to me? Do you feel that way too?

Is that mustard in the glass jar? It looks sooo good!! I love strong mustard with lots of grains in it. Did they serve Malt vinegar? Or is that an American thing? I love fish and chips with Malt vinegar.

  3. How did the Golden Bee's fish and chips compare to the real deal? That was a fun night at the Broadmoor last summer . . . I will always remember it. Thanks for making me get up and sing!
